Kudos to Disney @ Ruffles and Stuff!

Mon dieu....I just did a wee bit of sewing for the first time in three years.
It was totally spontaneous (on my part) and also very shabby!
Monsieur Rouge came home with his bag hanging off, so of course it had to be mended. See top right corner where I zigzag'd like a mad woman and re attatched disconnected strap.
If I had not been able to view some basic sewing techniques (like threading a bobbin) I would not have been able to make Mon Amour a happy camper....
Vie la machine a coudre!!!!

So now I know my 'tres bonne marche' sewing machine still works, and I still know how to operate it.....I FEEL A SEWING FRENZY coming on...
a toute a l'heure .....

Fail Friday anyone?

We all seem to show lovely pictures of the projects we complete that look AWESOME, so how about we start Fail Fridays and show our massive crafting fails? This could be a great learning venue....hehe. Let me know what you think.

May I Vent?

KK don't get alarmed, I will be nice.
Flipping ex went to sons graduation from Basic Training, I sent explicit requests for pictures asap.
This was on Thursday and Friday mind.

Nothing, no email saying here are the pics you requested, just a chat on the phone telling me that the boy is doing great!
So today is Tuesday right? I send email to ex saying I am waiting patiently for pics of my son graduating..............YOU KNOW WHAT HE REPLIED............

The pics are all on my facebook page.........!!!!!

The term 'wanker' comes to mind, but I would not be so rude......

but come on ...

end of vent, glad no one is listening.

SON GRADUATES FROM BASIC TRAINING TOMORROW

So excited, just talked to my son at Fort Jackson. It is Family Day (his dad is there) and I so wanted to be with him.
His orders for his new post are for Saturday, and then he will only be 5 hours from me!!!

One proud mum yelling WOOHA! GO ARMY.

Crying a bit......

Candlesticks to Ribbon Holders

These look a bit shabby right now, but it only took me five mins. to throw them together! Dollar store candle sticks, corks and a bit of left over dowel...et voila....space saving storage for ribbon.
I am linking this to Transformation Thursday at theshabbychiccottage.net.

New computer, sorted studio!?

I am so proud of myself today, I got a lot downloaded to my new, lovely computer. I sorted huge amounts of stuff in my studio. I dusted off my sewing machine and made it accessible. I can see work space now....but....argghh the floor is a bit covered with boxes of assorted paper clippings to be filed...this may take weeks.

Happy Valentines to All

I do hope everyone has someone to love on today, whether it be a significant other, a child or a great friend.

I  was blessed to wake up at 6am to loads of cuddles, kisses and "I love you"s.

Love so can be found a second time around!

How cute is this?! He cut out a shape of a heart, then made cream cheese frosting (my fav) dyed it with pink dye (for food of course) and then decorated it.....um it turned out to look like......man's best friend, and I don't mean a dog.

I LOVE MY MAN!!!!!!!

How Time Flies Whilst Goodwill Hunting.

Friday already!
It has been a good week here at La Maison Rouge. My SO started working this week (thank goodness) and I had two days off in a row. I had two days off in a row ALONE in the house, just me, myelf and I.
I found a few good buys at the GW. Would you like to see?

A cloche for $2.99, shakers for 99c each and a Wedgewood platter for a whopping  $1.99!
I am going to paint the tops of the shakers red I think, for use in the kitchen (or not, haven't quite decided yet). The platter will probably be hung somewhere, and the cloche?
I could use some suggestions for that one.

I have also been prodding and poking pillows at the GW and so far have come up with two feather inserts for
$1.99 a piece.

You never know what you will find at the good old GW!

Monday monday, so good to me.....

Start of a new week... woke up feeling a bit blue for some reason. Got over that and went to work. The SO went and filled out all the paperwork for his new job and waited in line with cops and paramedics for a drug test, thinking he would be put to the back of the line. 12.4% unemployment in Florida and he got a job...WOOHOO.
I can only pray it comes with health benefits. After 50 the odds that one will need healthcare are pretty high. I joined an art group challenge, only to be dumbfounded as to what I should make. But I have made a delicious dinner, cubed steak done in gravy for ages to make sure it is tender, baked taters and  veg, all we need now is a lovely pudding for afters (we need?).

This was me in a former life.

The Heck with Superbowl Sunday, it's Silver Sunday!

Why watch football when you could be polishing your silver? or I suppose you could watch football AND polish silver! This is my latest entry for Silver Sunday, hosted by Gypsy Fish over at her blog. I have not even taken these brooches out of the drawer for over 6 years, I suppose they deserved to see the light of day.

Roll Tide?

After a couple of rough days at work today was GREAT! We had some corporate entities visit the store and we got great feedback. But my feet still hurt...... I just spent 20 mins trying to erase callouses on my poor tootsies and bought some new inner soles for my trusty Doc Marten work shoes. I am hoping for a great foot day tomorrow lol.

Mine are all black and they don't make them like that any more. But after 5 years of wear they have done me well.

It is such a dilemma when one is on a budget. Buy new cheapish shoes, get a pedicure (which is almost as much as a shabbycheap pair of shoes) or just faint over buying good shoes...Let me know what ya think, and if you are available for foot massages.

Love you all tootsies....

Looking for Thrifting/Fleamarket Buddies.

I just thought I would put it out there in the world that I am looking for company, a friend, someone with whom I have things in common.

Only women who love all things shabby need apply. No men tyvm.

What I really mean is that I would love to meet people who live in NE Florida who enjoy flea markets and the like. Let me know, I am up for a road trip!
