Silver Sunday

I found these at the Goodwill store on Friday. 19 cents a piece! You certainly can't beat that. I was going to make a wind chime out of them but my SO said.....noooooo, we can use them.

Your Outlook
Don't compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about.
Don't have negative thoughts of things you cannot control. Instead invest your energy in the positive present moment.
Don't overdo. Keep your limits.
Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does.
Don't waste your precious energy on gossip.
Dream more while you are awake.
Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.
Forget issues of the past. Don't remind others of their past mistakes.
Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.
Make peace with your past so it won't spoil the present.
No one is in charge of your happiness except you.
Realize that life is a school and you are here to learn. Problems are simply part of the curriculum that appear and fade away but the lessons you learn will last a lifetime.
Learn a new word every day.
Smile and laugh more.
You don't have to win every argumement............

GREAT WORDS TO LIVE BY

My son, the soldier.

This amazing young man is sticking it out in Army boot camp and will graduate on February 19th. I am so proud of him . He then goes to Georgia to tech school to dabble in electronics and radios and things I don't understand. I am sad because I will not be able to attend his graduation, but his father will be there. WOOAH! Go Rock Force.

I just found this idea for hanging things on the wall. How cool are those drawer pulls?

Good Morning chickadees.

Here at the Maison Rouge, we have been on a strict budget for quite a while now. I mean seriously strict as in: dinner will be made from what we have in the pantry (some interesting meals have ended in the bin) and most importantly, crafts will be made from what one has on hand.

Ok, ok, I cheated and went to the thrift store and spent a couple of dollars, but oh, what one can come home  with for that small amount.

Looking around ones' studio and digging in piles of scraps can be quite cathartic. It makes the mind WORK harder to imagine what can be done with bits and bobs that haven't seen the light of day for ages.

I am working on a few items that I will show you soon. If I don't get sidetracked by ten other ideas in the meantime!

Too funny!
I had a couple of friends check out my blog (they are men and didn't actually know what a blog was). Obviously this type of blog is not intended for 'most' men hehe but I do love a greeting once in a while.
If you click on .....0 comments..... it lets you ADD one, how cool is that?

I am just wondering if anyone is out there listening?

Sigh, not sure if this is worth keeping up. I suppose I need to link more to other blogs. Unfortunately I visit many that have the same links, either I have great taste or we are all too similar.

Feeling a bit sad about Haiti and my lack of support (financially that is). It is all we can do right now to keep ourselves in a home.

If I were to get any sales, I SWEAR I will donate some money!!

But then how do we ACTUALLY know that anyone is really going to send their proceeds to a charity. I would rather give via my phone bill, which is such a great idea, and according to NPR the money gets there quite quickly.

I am such a shabby geek.

Did I ever mention that I play an online game? I know, shameful isn't it. Great fun, an indulgence, total escapism.

Oh but that smells nice!

I thought I would give this a try. I found some wonderful smelling fabric softener sheets from Arm and Hammer; they retain their fragrance even after being in the dryer. How about wrapping paper goods you plan to sell in one of these before posting out? Hopefully the goodies will arrive smelling not so shabby.

A very shabby situation!

Is anyone else out there like me?
My studio is a wreck, I have 6 million different projects going at one time. Naturally, none of them seem to get finished.
I feel OVERWHELMED and confused. Could this possibly be crafter's ADD?
If you have any suggestions as to how to corral this shabby situation, I would love to hear from you!

Epiphany

I had an epiphany today! I don't allow myself to create art.

I try to do it in odd moments of time when I am not busy doing other things. Obviously this is not working! I need to be more organised and prioritize my tasks better. For a start, my studio looks like a BOMB hit it. Probably a good first task, I am thinking. I will let you know how it goes.

Cold As the Dickens.

Oh my goodness, the weather here in Florida finally got cold. Almost freezing, so I had to cover some plants. Off to work time!
